STUDENT
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS
Students of Western Technical Institute, like all accreditted institutions,
are eligible to apply for a range of Federal Student Aid Programs. Determination
of student aid awards is based on financial aid need analysis formulas
prescribed by the Federal government. Living expense costs, as defined
each year by the National Standardized Budget, are considered in this
formula, and these specific figures are available in the Financial Aid
offices.
The school maintains a full-time Financial Aid Staff to administer these
programs and assist students in obtaining the maximum amount of financial
assistance for which they are eligible. Application for eligibility in
these programs begins by completing the FREE APPLICATION FOR FEDERAL STUDENT
AID (FAFSA).
Types of aid include grants, loans and scholoarships. Grants are monies
that do not have to be repaid by the student, but may have to be returned
to the government if the course of study is not completed and the refund
policy requires the student to do so. Loans are borrowed monies that you
must repay with interest.

More in-depth information on these programs can be found in THE STUDENT
GUIDE, published each year by the Department of Education and available
in the lobbies of both Western Technical Institute locations, as well
as in discussions with your Financial Aid Administrator. Per government
regulations, courses not leading to an Associate Degree are funded by
financial aid credit value, not semester credit value.
